This is my gloomy day, photographed just immediately before starting a rain.
Below is "The Gloomy Day" painted by Pieter Bruegel in 1565.

Hmm.. His painting is gloomier than my photo!
Since I've been posting a series of colorful illumination photos lately, it's time to show a simple (and boring) monochrome photo here. Don't you think so?
This is a Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday, Black and White Wednesday entry.
Yoshi, I don't see it as gloomy so much as moody and introspective. And...Peasant Bruegel was one of my favorite masters when I was a child. I respect the comparison, as both works you've presented here are equally beautiful and moving.
ReplyDeleteI love the stillness of the water in your shot, great reflections.
ReplyDeletewell, I like your picture...
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I seem to have trouble leaving comments on your cat photoblog - not sure why!
ReplyDeleteI don't find your photo depressing; but rather the approaching storm is renewing, and the simplicity of your photo with its black & white starkness is excellent. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteYour photo is lovely, not gloomy at all.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Really peaceful:)
ReplyDeleteGloomy, cold, isolated = great photo!

This photo is really gloomy, but I like it!
ReplyDeleteThe painting is beautiful in spite of it's theme.
your photo is not gloomy at all! i find it peaceful, it's hypnotic.:p
ReplyDeletethe painting does look sad.:p
Like both photos but the simplicity and desolation of yours was lovely. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI was trying to find a word - and Luna Miranda found it first: hypnotic. I almost feel as if I am watching and waiting for that first raindrop to hit the water.
