The factory looks like it is covered with ash...
Well, we did have a volcano eruption at Mt. Kirishima (霧島山) but it's way too far from where I took this photo. If you are curious about the eruption, here we are.
The building shown in this photo is a lime factory in Tochigi city. It was unfortunate that the sky was fully covered with thick clouds when I was there, and because of that almost everything looks just GRAY. And a little bit red from the rust... It's not an abandoned building but it does look so exhausted...
A series of industrial factories related to the lime is located along Route 202 and I am beginning to like this bizarre looking place! I will definitely visit there once again when the sky is blue!
This is a That's my world and Ruby Tuesday entry.
What a fabulous atmospheric shot! It looks eerie with the dust - but lovely too.
ReplyDeleteI like old factories, they are so interesting, one can take many many good photos!
ReplyDeleteThis picture is very good, I like your photos taken with a fisheye lens.
wow! i love how the red shows through all that rust. beautiful shot! please also take time to visit me at http://unshouted.wordpress.com/2011/02/21/ravishing-reds/ happy RT!
ReplyDeleteすごく迫力のある写真ですね
ReplyDelete映画かゲームの舞台になりそう
霧島もモノクロの世界になってしまってますが
早く収まるといいですね。
Very interesting shot!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeletehow amazing to capture those reds.
ReplyDeleteim your newest follower. amazing sepia here
ReplyDeleteit does look eerie. nice of you to capture those reds.
ReplyDeleteThe gloomy sky is fit to the atmosphere of this worn-out building. Bizarre but very attractive structure!
ReplyDeleteI would like to see this one in the blue sky too!!
Great shot! I love this.
The rust adds a bit of character to the old mill - and a subtle ruby, too! We have old factories in the US, and the shame is they are not working any more. Thus, the rust adds a little reminder of when thes buildings were hard at work,,,
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised it's not abandoned as it sure looks from this angle that it is.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of this interesting and photogenic site. I imagine you have a lot more of this place.
ReplyDeleteI thought this one is abandoned building it does look like it is. I like the red part that remains to be seen by all the grayness around. Happy Monday!

you got your fisheye out again, am I right? I love this photo. I love the lower left with the tire hanging and the metal stairs and the shadows on the concrete wall. it's like a secret little spot away from the rest and there appears to be just the hint of life there - some vines or something. the tone and angles are fantastic. great photo Yoshi!!! I think it's another fave.
ReplyDeleteReally great shot, the gray and the grime really add to the urban blight feeling.

What great lines and textures in your photo - the gray sky makes a perfect backdrop!
ReplyDeleteTerrific capture as always, Yoshi! And what a fascinating background! I, too, love the textures and lines. How wonderful that you were able to capture that reddish color! Terrific! Hope you have a great week!

What a cool looking image! Interesting post!
ReplyDeleteIn its abstract way it looks beautiful! Exerpt from Th.Fontane's poem comes to mind; "Tand, Tand ist das Gebilde von Menschenhand." (loosely translated, What man has build, is like trinkets baubles, all can fall.)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great shot! I really like it!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day! :-)
what an interesting shot :)
ReplyDeleteu may view mine here
I like how you have prepared the picture and showing just a little shade of red. You are a picture artist :)
ReplyDeletewhat an interesting perspective. it does look eerie but great shot of the site.
ReplyDeletei like this industrial and moody shot. there was a lime factory i passed by when i was in high school--the neighborhood was covered with dust, even the trees.
ReplyDeleteincidentally, we also have an erupting volcano right now. good thing it's far from where i am.
HDRみたいな写真ですね!
ReplyDeleteすごくきれいです。
火山が怖いです。
Are you playing with a fisheye in this shot? I love mine, but I find it hard to use. YOur capture of this industrial factory is excellent. I love the reds. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteLove the subject! It really looks like it's fallen apart and completely dejected. Nice one!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, in an abandoned sort of way.
ReplyDeleteThis photo partly looks like a "dessin", or preparatory drawing using a pencil. In a hazy black and white, there's a hint of rust-color on the metal parts, which create a special atmosphere of the ruins of factory.
ReplyDeletethis photo is like our earth quake
ReplyDeleteHoly moly! Thanks for the link, much appreciated!! :D
ReplyDeleteIt certainly looks like it would have fit in here a few weeks ago. ;)
Like Stardust said, it looks like a "dessin" - fantastic. ^^
Beautiful rendition Yoshi. Your image has an artistic feel to it, you've made something all steel and gray into something sculptural. Thank you for following my blog. I will do likewise with your's as well :)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful piece of a sad event...art! That was what I'm supposed to say but since it's not really from an effect of the eruption, still is a work of art... :)
ReplyDeletetres beau HDR b&w, j'aime beaucoup ce traitement
