Still On Duty
Part 3 of the Lime factory in the industrial area of Tochigi Prefecture. Note that the building shown in this photo is NOT abandoned. Believe it or not, it's still on duty! Over time it's all been covered with lime, which makes this photo look almost like monochrome.
This is a That's my world and White Wednesday #89 entry.

I think this looks like something from a science fiction movie after something destructive has happened. Sure makes a neat photo!
ReplyDeleteThis factory is still working? Wow!! I can't wait to see what it looks like inside. Why it accumulated this much lime? A very good job in capturing this one. Thanks for sharing and the visit!
ReplyDeleteBlue Monday
I wonder what all that lime dust does to the lungs of people in the area?
ReplyDeleteTerrific capture as always, Yoshi! I, too, wonder about the lime dust and what it does to the lungs of people in that area! Have a great week!

Oh wow... I thought it WAS a black and white until you said otherwise and I looked closer! Incredible!
ReplyDeleteIf I understood correctly, this is the true color of the building. I wonder about the health of individuals working within or nearby. Also, the structure reminds me a little of a strange futurist movie set of an abandoned city after some catastrophic event.
ReplyDeleteyap looks like a site for a sci-fi movie.
ReplyDeleteIt is not always the purely beautiful that makes for an interesting picture although to my eyes this is has the beauty of age and long usage like and old person showing their life etched on their face.
ReplyDeleteYes, beautiful indeed and the icing of lime almost makes it look like a snow scene.
I like this kind of photo, I think because it is so stark, and perhaps so aweful in the old sense of the word. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteSeriously that's not a monochrome shot!? It looks so out of this worldish - great shot to show!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing this place wouldn't make the top 10 places to work list. Makes an interesting photo though.
ReplyDeleteThe laundry that needs to be done for the workers there! o.O
ReplyDeleteThis lime-covered factory does look like snow sculpture. I'm also concerned about the workers' and neighbors' health.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep up with you, too. Thank you.
Lovely shot although it does look abandoned...
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible! Very interesting story, nice photo! But I would not work there :)
ReplyDeleteただいま!
ReplyDelete昨日絵のようなコーンウォールから帰ったばかりなのです。
あ、そうなんですか?
灰色なので、廃墟みたいですね!
不思議なモノクロなんです。
Fascinating image Yoshi. You've put this building in the limelight :)
ReplyDeleteLime stone is beautiful but people seem to be paying for that. Excellent and sad!
ReplyDeleteagain, nice one, Yoshi!
