Happy New Year

This is my first attempt to photograph Mt. Fuji from my town, Utsunomiya. I climbed Mt. Kogashi (古賀志山), which is only 583m above the sea level but it's still the highest mountain in our city.

Mt. Fuji is approximately 170 km from my town. It was sunny but a little bit hazy. I convinced myself that I would be lucky enough to be able to see Mt. Fuji at my first attempt. I will definitely give it a try once again to try to capture a clear view of the highest mountain in Japan!!!

This is an entry for Show Me Japan Vol 1, Issue 7. If you want to see nice photos taken in Japan, don't forget to visit!!!

As usual, this is a Sky Watch Friday entry.

Happy New Year!!!

The Gloomy Day

This is my gloomy day, photographed just immediately before starting a rain.

Below is "The Gloomy Day" painted by Pieter Bruegel in 1565.

Image from Wiki

Hmm.. His painting is gloomier than my photo!

Since I've been posting a series of colorful illumination photos lately, it's time to show a simple (and boring) monochrome photo here. Don't you think so?

This is a Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday, Black and White Wednesday entry.

How do you interpret this image?

Figure 2 FM4-64 Internalization in Living Cells
DNA is visualized with CFP (Cyan Fluorescent Protein)-Histone (in blue) under its own promoter and a fluorescent probe, FM4-64 (in red or ruby), is treated to monitor endocytosis. It is photographed 10 min after the treatment of FM4-64 at room temperature....

Once again, sorry for the confusion. I found this object, illuminated by Ruby laser beam from the bottom, at Nasunogahara Harmony Hall (那須野が原ハーモニーホール) in Otawara City, Tochigi Prefecture.

As my blog title says, I will be posting abstract images from time to time. If the description of the image starts from Figure legend (like this post or previous one), be prepared! I warn you.

What does this image remind you of??? Please let me know!

Double-Stranded DNA

Figure 1 Structure of Chromosome during mitosis
DNA is stained with DAPI (in blue) and the methylated Cytosine is visualized in plum by Immunolocalization using anti-Cytosine IgM antibodies...

Sorry for the confusion. This is photographed at Nasunogahara Harmony Hall (那須野が原ハーモニーホール) in Otawara City, Tochigi Prefecture. No entrance fee is charged. From December 1st to January 10th, illumination starts at 17:00 and ends at 22:00.

This is a Blue Monday entry.

Withered Tree

Photographed in Sainoko Lake (西ノ湖), Nikko City.

I have posted one photo of this lake with a brief introduction in my old entry.

Click to enlarge image of Sainoko Lake.

I don't think there are any living creatures in this lake, at least vertebrates. That's why water looks so clean in my eyes.

This is a Black and White Weekend, Weekend Reflections, and Shadow Shot Sunday entry.

Merry Christmas

Full moon looks like one of the decorations. Can you recognize where it is?

Santa has a sparking eye that is actually the light located far behind him.

"W"aterfall in Nikko

Photographed at Ganmanfuchi (憾満渕) on the Daiya River (大谷川) in Nikko city. Yes, whenever and wherever I find a waterfall, I unconsciously attach an ND8 filter to the camera and take a photo with a slow shutter speed.

Yes, it's a conditional response!!! I feel like being a Pavlov's dog.

Typical example of that symptom (it's chronic). Click the image to enlarge.

This is a Outdoor Wednesday, Watery Wednesday, and ABC Wednesday entry. W is for waterfall and more.

Futaarasan Chuguji Shrine

Photographed about a month ago in Nikko City. It's located just by the Chuzenji lake (中禅寺湖).

These are photos of Chuzenji lake (Click photo to enlarge).

Chuguji (中宮祠) shrine acts as an entrance to climbing Mt. Nantai (男体山; 2484m above sea level), which we did last summer.

Click photo to enlarge. Here is the view from the summit of Mt. Nantai.

The weather today reminded me of autumn and this photo came to my mind.

This is a That's My World Tuesday entry.

Mikoshi Procession Under Christmas Decoration

Photographed in Utsunomiya downtown on December 15. This festival is called "Otariya (冬渡祭)". Ujiko members of Futaarayama Shrine gathered, carried mikoshi, and marched downtown. During December this street (with a roof) is decorated with Christmas lights and the portable shrine (mikoshi) had a procession under Christmas decorations.

This is also a Spiritual Sunday, Our Weekend Memories, Sunday In My City, and Photo Friday entry. This week's challenge is "Gathering".
