Jigendo Hall Revisited

This is one of my favorite buildings in Nikko's historical district. I can spend many pleasant hours there simply by sitting down and looking around.
The color photo of this building can be seen here.

This is a Black and White Weekend and Scenic Sunday entry.

Have a wonderful weekend.

  7. What a lot of scilled handicraft was used to build these. I looked at the coloured one also.

  17. Thanks for your comment on my shot, Yoshi.

Yes, this is great in B&W. I shoot a lot of B&W HDR as well - I think it is great when there are varying light levels and you want to get the full spectrum of light and shadow. It can also be good for (like this shot) adding a bit of texture and atmosphere.

I did a blog post a while back on black and white HDR, so you might want to check that out too: http://blog.tokyololas.com/2009/06/29/hdrtonemapping-for-black-white-photos/

At the moment, I am also working on an HDR blog (only HDR related topics and photos), so I hope to have that on the go in early 2011. I'll keep you posted.
